Thinking about rehoming your dog? You don’t have to decide alone.

Something has happened, or things have been hard for a long time, and you’re wondering whether your dog would be better off somewhere else. I’ll help you see the situation and your options clearly. The decision stays yours.

No judgement. Asking this question usually means you care about getting it right for your dog.

Where are you right now?

Wherever you are, it’s a good place to start

“I want to keep trying, but I don’t know how”

We look at what’s behind it and whether a realistic plan could make life safer and calmer for you both.

“I honestly don’t know what’s right”

We set out each option side by side, with what it would involve, so you can weigh it up without pressure.

“I’ve decided, and I want to do it properly”

We make sure the next step is the right one for your dog, and I point you to who can help with it.

How it works

One step at a time, in the way that suits you

  1. Tell me what’s happened

Use the short form to tell me about your dog and what has brought you to this point. Write as much or as little as you like.

  2. Your questions, built around your situation

I send you a questionnaire with what you’ve already told me filled in, focused on what has led you here. Answer it in writing, or talk it through with me on a call. Whichever you prefer.

  3. Your options, in writing

A clear summary of the situation and the realistic options, with what each would involve for you and your dog. Plus a suggested next step, and how I can help with it if you’d like me to.

What I do, and what I don’t

Honest advice, and the decision stays yours

I will

  • Listen, and take what’s happened seriously
  • Help you understand why your dog may be behaving this way
  • Set out the options honestly, including the hard ones
  • Help with the next step, whatever you decide

I won’t

  • Tell you what you should decide
  • Rehome dogs or choose new homes myself
  • Promise that any plan will work
  • Replace your vet: pain and illness can sit behind sudden changes, so a vet check is often part of the next step

Talk it through before you decide

Tell me a little about your dog and what has happened, and I’ll be in touch.
